Muga Red Wines. Винодельню открыл и назвал своим именем Исаак Муга в 1936 г., он происходил из потомственного рода виноделов из Риохо. Сначала он производил молодые вина: не хватало площади погребов, но с приобретением обширного поместья, производство стало стремительно расти, и продукция выходит на международную арену. Самым успешным становится красное вино "Torre Muga".
Muga Reserva Rioja 2011 Muga Reserva Rioja 2011 вино в лучших испанских традициях. Используется отборный виноград, выращенный в сказочном регионе Риоха. Представляет собой купаж сортов Tempranillo (70%), Garnacha Tinta (20%), Graciano (3%) и Mazuelo (7%). Muga Reserva 2010 - 2011
70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 7% Mazuelo and 3% Graciano.
Tertiary, chalky-clay terraces.
Fermentation in oak vats with indigenous yeasts. Aged for 24 months in oak casks selected from our own cooperage. before bottling the wine is fined using fresh egg whites. Once bottled the wine is rounded off in the bottle for a further minimum of twelve months in our bottle cellar.
This 2011 wine looks back with respect towards the previous vintage, the fabulous 2010 wine, one of the greatest we have ever produced. With a totally different character, this wine shows off its elegance and soft, sweet ways, its complexity and its freshness.

Medium-high, shiny red robe, very pure, almost monochrome, but with increasing depth of colour from the rim towards the heart of the glass.

Very fruity on the nose, but with a very different profile to the 2010 wine. This vintage has rather fresher fruit and floral notes which are present in all the phases of the tasting, but without becoming dominant at any time. You can find fresh, jammy cherry, red-berry fruit compote, a touch of liquorice and aniseed, and hints of fennel and white blossom. The rich spectrum of aromas is so great that it barely leaves room for the hints of oaky spices to make an appearance. These are hard to pin down, but we think you can find traces of caramel, vanilla and coconut…
Smooth mouth-feel with a predominance of sweet, well-rounded tannins, quite a surprise when you remember the age of the wine. A presence of natural acidity which has become blurred and in no way intrudes.

There is less fruit and more spiciness in the retro nasal tasting, with cherries but also vanilla, wild shrubs, black pepper and a little leather. The floral nuances disappear in this phase.

The aftertaste is long and silky, with a curious mixture of the sweet shop and mineral sensations coming through.

It is difficult to “assign it to a sea”. The debate on whether it should be classified as a “Mediterranean” or “Atlantic” style wine is complex. Perhaps during its evolution over the next few years it will develop a sharper leaning towards one or the other.

Muga Reserva Seleccion Especial 2010 Muga Reserva Especial 2010 неповторимый подарок из процветающего винодельческого региона Rioja Alta. Представляет собой купаж из традиционных сортов винограда Темпранильо, Гарнача, Масуэло и Грасиано. Ферментация и мацерация проходит в дубовых чанах без контроля над температурой. Выдержка происходит в дубовых бочках, в течения 2 лет. Затем вино проходит очистку яичным белком, бутылизируется и еще год выдерживается. Geology and Soil. Terraces of tertiary clay-calcareous soil.
Elaboration. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in oak vats. Aged for 26 months in casks made in our own cooperage from selected oak. Before bottling the wine is fined with fresh egg whites. Once bottled it will be rounded off for at least twelve months in our cellars before release for sale.
Tasting. Good, even depth of colour with purple glints, much more in the meniscus of the glass when tilted.
On the nose you can find aromas which remind you of wild red berries, ripe but not yet picked, developing countryside smells and mineral sensations. It seems as if all the wine of this splendid Muga Selección Especial 2010 has been sleeping under the protective shroud of a single, huge cask. And maybe these aromas already make you think that this time the contribution of the garnacha is unusual. Unusual for being extraordinary, in terms of quality rather than quantity.
The sensations grow and develop in the mouth, with signs of the tempranillo grape becoming the perfect dancing partner for the garnacha. Fruit you can almost chew, soft, silky tannins, the right hint of acidity and a good presence of mineral nuances.

Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva Rioja 2005 Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva Rioja 2005 – божественный подарок из Риохо. Представляет собой купаж традиционных сортов винограда, выращенных на известково-глиняных грунтах. Сбор урожая в самую последнюю очередь и вручную, транспортировка в маленьких ящиках. Брожение естественное, без контроля за температурой. Выдержка в три этапа: в огромных бочках из дуба – 1 год, бочках малых объемов – 3 года, бутылках – 3 года. Вкус маслянистый, с мягкими танинами, и интенсивным звучанием минералов. Букет невероятно сложный и насыщенный фруктовыми нотами, оттенками соблазнительной черники, приторно сладкого терна и ежевики.

Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2006
80% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano.
Chalky-clay and alluvial.
The grapes used for making Prado Enea, along with those for Torre Muga, are always the last ones to be brought into the winery. This late picking ensures ideal ripening. The grapes are then fermented naturally in 10,000-kilo oak vats with no temperature control or added yeasts. The maceration time can vary and may go on for up to twenty days. This wine is aged in 16,000-litre capacity oak vats for twelve months and then (minimum) thirty-six months in oak casks and (minimum) thirty-six months in the bottle. After cask-ageing the wine is gently fined using fresh egg whites.
Intense ruby-red, cherry heart and slight brick-red tinge at the edge. The colour has not developed very much.
Expressive, well defined aged character but with reminders of the fruit. A base of very ripe red fruit (plums, blackcurrants) cloaked in a fairly classical bouquet which gradually opens up more subtle nuances as the wine is aired. First come the hints of fine wood (cedar, fresh acacia bark), then lots of spicy aromas (cinnamon, cloves, black peppercorns) and finally reminders of tobacco leaves and tea to round off an overall impression combining a clear classic character with very modern vitality.
Balanced on the palate, with body and liveliness, the tannins well tamed by the ageing but still there, providing sensations of noble strength, consistent, full mouth-feel, lively, well integrated acidity and wood, full of taste and suggestive mouth aromas in which the fine reminders of ripe fruit are more apparent, persistent, supple finish inviting you to have another glass.
An exemplary Gran Reserva, well developed and full of vitality. Expression of the fruit, with the classic Rioja bouquet (with no animal notes or any sign of oxidation) and with the fine, lively character of a red from the Rioja Alta.

Torre Muga Rioja 2010 Torre Muga Rioja 2010 – шедевр испанского виноделия из легендарной и процветающей Ла Риохи. Представляет собой изысканный бленд из традиционных для Пиренейского полуострова сортов Темпранильо, Масуэло и Грасиано. Красивого темно-гранатового цвета. После ферментации и мацерации, выдержка происходит полгода в деревянных чанах, после еще полтора года во французских дубовых бочках, после бутилирования старение продолжается еще не менее года. Вкус насыщенный элегантными шелковистыми танинами, идеально сбалансированный: гармонично звучат ноты красных ягод, спелых фруктов и пряного дуба. Букет чрезвычайно привлекательный, раскрывается нежными, приятными фруктовыми ароматами.

Torre Muga 2010
75% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo and 10% Graciano.
Clay/Calcareous and Alluvial.
This wine is aged for 6 months in wooden vats, 18 months in new French oak barrels and at least 12 months in bottle.
The wine faithfully expresses the climatology that prevailed during the vintage, showing itself to be balanced and very juicy.

Its easy-drinking character and “good manners” surprise you, even when you remember that it is only three years’ old and it is from a zone which usually needs more bottle time.
That said, you can make allowance for the occasional rough edges on the palate which are of little importance and will round themselves off very quickly.

The nose is attractive with fresher fruit than we are used to find in this wine.
Very precise balance between red berry fruit and oaky spiciness which have still not fully integrated.
The aromas show marked dimorphism.

On the one hand, the fruit is complex, difficult to pin down, and on the other we have very clearly defined spices: black pepper, cloves, vanilla and a little charcoal.
In the back of the nasal cavity the spiciness dominates, a little drier, but more elegant and much richer in nuances.
The fruit only returns after a few seconds in the aftertaste where we again find the red berries and something which seems similar to peaches and ripe plums.

In appearance it is rather more reddish than purple at the rim suggesting excellent acidity, boding well for the future.
